Cock of the Walk Award

The crew of the Rumbustion was awarded the Crown Forces Naval Establishment's "Cock of the Walk Award" at the Battle of Georgian Bay Event.

The "Cock of the Walk Award" is a "recurring trophy awarded to that boat and boat's crew that best displays seamanship, historical accuracy, spirit and performance."

While many of you were unable to attend it is a testament to the countless hours and hard work the Western Lakes Station has invested into our ship's company.

As the definition of the phrase has changed in the 21st century, I thought it might be of interest to see the original expression in context. I found the following in the 1823 edition of the Dictionary of Vulgar Tongue.

So to the best damn sailors of the fleet [on that weekend]. Three cheers to you all and congratulations!
